Project Light at Canada Water

Brick Cladding to Balcony Frames

For this project, ACS supplied FastClad brick cladding to ensure a seamless match with the traditional brickwork being installed by the on-site bricklayers. The project required continuity between the cladding on the balcony frames and the masonry walls to maintain the aesthetic integrity of the design.

To achieve this, bricks from the same production batch used for the masonry walls were collected from the site. At our Leicester factory, these bricks were precision-cut into slips and bonded to our specially profiled backing boards, ensuring exact color and texture consistency.

The prefabricated cladding panels were then mechanically fixed to the balcony frames on-site. The final step involved pointing the joints in lime mortar, carefully matched to the cement mortar used by the bricklayers for the surrounding walls. This attention to detail resulted in a cohesive brick façade, maintaining the visual appeal while offering the lightweight, easy-to-install advantages of FastClad.

This project highlights the versatility of FastClad, seamlessly integrating with traditional brickwork to deliver high-quality results, even in complex applications such as balcony structures.
